As long as it takes.

As Long As It Takes
by Meredith Andrews

I’m tired, do I have to keep proving myself?
I’m weary and drawing from an empty well
I need You more than I ever have
So, Jesus, come and shatter my darkness somehow

And I won’t speak until You speak
I won’t move until You move me
I won’t sing, sing over me
I will wait as long as it takes

I’m restless for something significant
But I’m helpless ’cause I’ve done all I can
I want You more than I ever have
So, Jesus, come and hold me, I’m shaking right now

And I won’t speak until You speak
I won’t move until You move me
I won’t sing, sing over me
I will wait as long as it takes

You are the comforter so comfort me
You’re the sustainer so be enough for me
You are my Father and Your love for me
Is where I’ll find my rest

I won’t speak
And I won’t speak until You speak
I won’t move until You move me
I won’t sing, sing over me
I will wait as long as it takes
Jesus, I will wait as long as it takes

I heard this song for the first time ever today, and it has been on repeat. It truly explains my heart right now, and I hope that it touches your heart as well. I’m so thankful for a God who relentlessly pursues us and lavishes His love upon us. A lot of people would look at the season of life I’m in right now and doubt that love, doubt that pursuit that even now brings me to my knees. His love is so much stronger, so much deeper than we can ever realize. And that remains true in the midst of any trial or storm we face. He does care, and His love remains steadfast though our circumstances shake and crumble around us, His love and goodness are unchanged. Picture the cross. That picture of pain and suffering were drawn by love itself, even as He had to turn His back on His own Son as He drew His last breath, taking on our every sin and every consequence of sin upon Himself for us. In that moment, love reached a climax, and, yes, with suffering and pain and death, brought us salvation, brought us life. That is how we can hold fast in good times and bad: because God is unchanging, He does not shift like shadows. No, He is constant–comforter, sustainer, Father, Beloved, friend…and oh so much more. We must cling to that no matter what rages around us. Cling to Him and wait for Him. He who calls you is so faithful. He will fulfill His promises, but we must remember that the ultimate promise has already come because Jesus came for us. Are we clinging to Him or just His promises? He is greater than His own promises. He is greater. He is worth it all.
